BVCHD is committed to providing quality healthcare services to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety of our patients, visitors, employees, and physicians remains our highest priority. We have been working to prepare our Hospital and clinics for caring for those who need us during this time.
As the events of COVID-19 continue to evolve, BVCHD is taking proactive steps to ensure that our Skilled Nursing Residents are protected from the increased risks posed by this recent pandemic. As a result, we have negotiated with YMCA Long Beach who currently owns and operates Camp Oaks located in Lake Williams to temporarily move our residents to the camp for the foreseeable future, effective 4/4/20.
This move will serve two purposes:
- Ensure that our vulnerable residents have as little contact with potential carriers of the virus as possible. Removing them from BVCHD’s main campus will allow extra precautions to be taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19 for Skilled Nursing Staff and Residents.
- In the event that BVCHD needs additional space to continue to care for our community during this pandemic, the Skilled Nursing Unit will provide an additional wing in the main Hospital allowing us to care for more patients if needed.
The staff of the Skilled Nursing Facility will be working only at Camp Oaks, reducing the risk of exposing the residents to other potential hazards coming into the main Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. BVCHD is taking active measures to ensure that we are using every proactive approach to keep our patients, visitors, employees, and physicians safe and healthy. Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
