The Emergency Department Director assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for the provision of care and services in accordance with professional standards of nursing practice, BVCHD mission and values, and regulatory guidelines. Responsible for the development and coordination of all department operations to promote clinically effective and efficient patient care. Assesses, plans, coordinates and evaluates the operational functions of nursing services to ensure quality, cost effective care is provided by an educated and competent staff. Develops and implements policies & procedures, oversees quality improvement processes, facilitates a patient centered care delivery model, and promotes an environment that encourages safety and best practices. Provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with organizational mission, philosophy, goals and objectives. Maintains and demonstrates professional competency in the application of management principles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of three years’ hospital experience
- Management/supervisory experience required
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal, written and listening skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer skills, including ability or willingness to learn/use the District Electronic Medical Record
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) Preferred
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification
