On February 11th, 2019 the BVCHD Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Steven Baker as the 5th member of the BVCHD Business Board. The District had a vacancy due to Jack Roberts resignation from the Board of Directors in December due to his new position as the Big Bear Airport’s General Manager. Per San Bernardino County Elections Office of the Registrar of Voters if a vacancy occurs, the current members of the governing board can appoint a member within 60 days to fulfil the vacant seat.
On January 30th the BVCHD Board of Directors interviewed 6 highly qualified candidates, and as a result, felt they needed time to evaluate the applicants, and their unique strengths. They requested that the applicants return on February 11th, where the Board would appoint one of the 6 candidates.
On February 11th, during the Directors comments, the Board indicated that they were grateful to all the applicants and that the decision was difficult, based on the quality of the candidates they had received. At that time, each Director cast their vote, and Steven Baker was unanimously voted to fill the vacancy.
According to Mr. Bakers application, has served on prior boards in the Big Bear Valley and he has experience in various roles and responsibilities. Mr. Baker also indicated that he has over 45 years in commercial and residential construction, a skill that the BVCHD Board saw as highly desired as they move towards addressing the Hospitals need to retrofit.
Congratulations Mr. Steven Baker! BVCHD welcomes you and we look forward to working with you!Leave a reply →
