On August 26th, the BVCHD Foundation hosted their 2nd annual Helen Walsh Humanitarian of the Year Award. This year’s event honored Don and Carol Bremer for their years of humanitarian efforts, both in Big Bear, as well is in other cities. Webster defines a humanitarian as “a person who seeks to promote human welfare; a philanthropist, concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare” and this definition personified the Bremers. Don Bremer passed away earlier this year, and Carol has continued the charitable work the couple is known for. They have been active supporters of The Mountain Top Strings, Big Bear Rotary and the Hospital. The Bremers partnered with the BVCHD Foundation to host the Valentines Ball, in which they raised over 30 thousand dollars that was used to refurbish rooms at BVCHD.
They were celebrated by family, friends, dignitaries, and many of the BVCHD Foundation members and employees. The event was held at Foundation members Johan and Evelyn de Villers bed and breakfast, The Alpenhorn Inn. Food was provided by Old County Inn, The Copper Q, BVCHD Dietary, and the Alpenhorn. Thank you to everyone who came and supported this event, and a special thanks to the Foundation and all their hard work honoring those who are making a difference I the Big Bear Community!Leave a reply →
