On 11/29 and 11/30 BVCHD was honored to have representatives from Forward Food, an organization looking to transform the way we eat provide a Culinary Experience for our staff and community members. Forward Food reported that plant-based meat sales have grown at twice the rate of processed meat sales, and are expected to continue rising 11% annually through 2020. People are also eating more whole, plant-based foods. “Consumers—and not just vegetarians—are warming up to products like tempeh, tofu, and seitan that can stand in for meat,” NPR reports. Meatless Monday is global movement with a simple message: once a week, cut the meat. Launched in 2003, Meatless Monday is a non-profit initiative of The MondayCampaigns, working in collaboration with the Center for a Livable Future (CLF) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
